What exactly is the Alata Kakalɔi Award?
A formal, recurring honour established by the Osu Alata Council to recognise living sons and daughters of Osu Alata whose work embodies the community's spirit of excellence and innovation. The physical award is the Pioneer Shield.
Why pair it with a tech narrative?
Because the Osu Alata identity has always been about mastery of an unseen system — first the sea, now the network. The Digital Harvest frame is not a marketing layer; it is the community's own reading of its tradition.
Who decides the honouree?
An Osu Alata Council deliberation. Public nominations open in December for the following year's edition; the Council selects a single recipient.
Is the festival open to the public?
Day-One youth clinics and the Day-Two Grand Durbar and Tech-Heritage Exhibition are open to the public. The Hero's Lecture, Award Ceremony, and Closing Reception are by invitation, with the lecture livestreamed on YouTube and Facebook.
